What concerns us about our eyelids?
When we look in a mirror and see that they are not equal (asymmetry), or are droopy or swollen. We can also see bags or excess skin under our eyes. There is a very important aspect that we can feel with our upper eyelids, which when drooping can alter the vision giving an aspect of tiredness in the person, and can even reflect an older age.
Can the changes in the eyelids be due to disease?
Changes in the shape or size (anatomy) of the eyelids are generally not due to disease, however all patients before undergoing eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty should undergo a visual capacity test, thyroid and kidney function tests.
Can the appearance of the eyelids be improved?
Yes, a more attractive and vital appearance can be achieved by rearranging fat, symmetry and removal of excess skin and muscle.
